Essays are one of the main ways that teachers find out how well students can communicate their thoughts effectively and in an organized manner. If you create essays in the same manner, creating essays will become easier and easier. Here are some general instructions for writing an essay about love or hate:
- The first thing you need to do with any essay is choose a topic. With the broad subject of love or hate, you need to narrow down the subject and choose a topic. After that you have to go one step further and decide on a topic sentence that you will write your essay about. Choosing a topic is stressful for many people. One suggestion on how to decide on a topic is to brainstorm. Brainstorming is effective because it will bring out what is important to you because it forces you to write down what comes to your head first. Take your time deciding on a topic and topic sentence because it will determine how easy or difficult your essay will end up being.
- Once you have decided on your topic and topic sentence you will need to do research that will substantiate them. Make sure you research enough to get good information. I would suggest using at least three different sources so you get a variety of information and your data is thorough. Keep your research organized and take good notes.
- Create an outline of your essay. Many people like to skip this step but it is very important in assuring that your essay has a good flow and everything you want to include in the essay gets in there in the right place. You outline should include your introduction which will have your topic sentence in it. You should also have a sentence in there that will entice your readers to continue reading your article. Plan on having at least three reasons or things that will substantiate your topic sentence. Use a separate paragraph for each and indicate that with a different roman numeral on your outline. Include all of the important information in your outline that you want in your essay.
- Create your rough draft of your paper from your outline, edit your paper to make sure your grammar and spelling is correct and then create your final draft.
If you follow the same procedure each time you complete an essay they will get easier and easier with each one.
